Check the recorded owner

Match the ownership document to the vehicle and identify every person whose signature is required. Explain any missing title, estate involvement or outstanding loan before scheduling collection.

Complete the assignment

For a Georgia title assignment, enter the purchaser’s legal name, address and sale date. Complete the required mileage disclosure in whole miles and mark the applicable non-actual or mechanical-limit condition. Each joint seller prints and signs; company sellers also identify the company and authorized signer’s position. Follow the buyer-signature fields and never hand over an assignment with the purchaser left blank.

Keep your own copies

Save the completed title assignment and bill of sale with the agreed amount, purchasing business details and collection record. Keep these available if a later enquiry concerns the vehicle.

Finish the registration step

Georgia requires the seller to cancel registration as well as transfer ownership. Use the separate cancellation guide and arrange the insurance change in the correct order.
