Identify where the error appears
Georgia treats the face of a title differently from the assignment on its back. Incorrect information on the face generally needs a new document from the issuing agency; do not alter it yourself.
Keep assignment corrections readable
DOR instructs applicants to lightly cross out an incorrect assignment entry, write the correct information above it and complete Form T-11 explaining the change. Erasing, correction fluid and obscuring the original entry are unacceptable.
Check special errors separately
An incorrect odometer entry requires T-107 affidavits from buyer and seller. An incorrectly entered lienholder requires a release. A sale-date error has separate evidence or penalty options, so check the official instructions before changing it.
Resolve the record before pickup
Tell the purchasing partner about the mistake and ask the County Tag Office which documents your situation requires. Keep the corrected paperwork together with the sale record.
