Submit the notice within 30 days
TxDMV advises submitting a Vehicle Transfer Notification within 30 days of the sale to receive the associated seller protections. Use its online service or Form VTR-346. Keep the buyer’s details, sale date and vehicle identification ready.
Keep the title transfer separate
The notification updates the vehicle record to show a sale; it does not transfer ownership by itself. Complete the applicable transfer documents and retain copies with your payment and collection records.
If notices arrive after the sale
Keep your submission confirmation so you can respond if a later parking or toll notice arrives. Follow the issuing agency’s instructions and provide the transaction records it requests.
