Selling a Texas car through an authorized representative

Check the limited form

VTR-271 identifies the owner, representative and vehicle. Its instructions require complete fields, original signatures in blue or black ink and no alterations.

Mileage disclosure changes the route

The form cannot complete a dealer title assignment for a vehicle subject to federal odometer disclosure. Where a power of attorney is permitted under the applicable mileage rules, its instructions direct users to secure Form VTR-271-A. Confirm the appropriate form before the owner becomes unavailable.

Prepare identification and collection details

For title, initial registration or certified-copy applications using a power of attorney, VTR-271 requires photo-ID copies for both parties. Explain to the purchasing partner who owns the car, who will sign and who will attend pickup.
