What does the salvage classification mean?
NCDMV defines salvage using repair costs above 75 percent of fair market value. Applicants seeking a title for a salvage or damaged vehicle six model years old or newer need an anti-theft inspection.
Explain the vehicle as it is
Share the insurer’s paperwork and title status. Describe water exposure, collision damage, missing parts and repairs already attempted so the partner can assess the car and plan loading.
How does a junk classification differ?
NCDMV says a vehicle incapable of highway operation with no value except parts or scrap cannot be titled or registered. Identify the existing classification rather than assuming every damaged car can return to road use.
