When can an owner use MV-35?

The DMV form covers an owner who purchased from the titled owner but never titled the vehicle in their own name, or whose own title was lost or stolen. It requires a vehicle at least eight model years old and worth $1,250 or less. These are eligibility limits, not a promised purchase price.

Who can receive the vehicle?

The recipient must be a registered vehicle dismantler, itinerant vehicle collector or certified scrap processor. The form cannot transfer ownership to a private buyer or an unlicensed tow operator. Ask which licensed business will acquire the car before choosing this route.

Can the vehicle return to the road?

MV-35 requires dismantling or scrapping, and the vehicle may never be titled again. The form requires identification and certifications, including no undisclosed liens. Read both pages with the receiving business. If the route does not fit, obtain the proper ownership documents instead.
