Identify the error
Form MVR-5 lists corrections including names, vehicle information, lienholder details and incorrect assignment. Explain the actual error and follow the supporting-document requirements.
Check the special conditions
The form requires confirmation for an incorrectly recorded lienholder and court documentation for a court-authorized name change. An assignment can be voided through this process only when no sale occurred, with affidavits from the parties.
Prepare before the handover
Ask the license plate agency about your documents before making alterations. Tell the purchasing partner about the issue so the collection arrangement accounts for the correction.
