Does an older rebuilt salvage car need disclosure?
New York DMV says the seller of a rebuilt salvage vehicle must provide the new owner a disclosure statement regardless of the vehicle’s age. The disclosure is on the back of New York title certificates. Do not omit it because the car is old or no longer running.
What should I show the purchasing partner?
Describe the exact ownership document or salvage certificate you hold, any title brand, and known damage. Complete the applicable disclosure accurately. DMV lists MV-103 for situations where the ownership document lacks a required odometer or damage-disclosure section.
Does a purchase offer establish roadworthiness?
A scrap purchase, ownership transfer and authorization to register a rebuilt vehicle are different matters. State whether you are selling for dismantling or as a repairable vehicle, and confirm the receiving business accepts the document you have.
