Does free purchase towing clear the yard’s bill?
Our free towing covers collection for the purchase. It does not cancel a separate repair, impound or storage bill. Ask the facility for an itemized balance, the date through which it applies and its release instructions before agreeing a pickup time.
What rights apply to a repair bill?
New York DMV’s repair guidance describes your rights to an estimate, authorization and an itemized invoice. Keep the work order and records of any approvals. Raise disputed charges with the shop and use DMV’s complaint process where applicable; a sale appointment does not resolve the dispute.
What if I receive a lien-and-sale notice?
A garageperson’s lien is a separate procedure for claimed repair, towing or storage charges. DMV publishes MV-901C instructions and associated notice and sale documents. Record the notice date and proposed sale date, obtain the supporting records and seek prompt advice if you dispute the claim.
What should the collection instructions contain?
Record the facility’s address, release contact, permitted collection time and required authorization. Confirm who pays the existing balance and whether charges continue until pickup. Give the driver the release reference only after the facility agrees to release the car.
